Brazil's Ministry of Health and the UNESCO (United Nations Education, Science, and Culture Organization) will spend up to US$ 12.95 million (31.7 million reais) for research on sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and AIDS.

The calls for bids cover 64 thematic lines in three areas of activity: the black population, the North and Center-West regions, and clinical and clinico-epidemiological research.

The projects may be submitted by teaching or research institutions, non-governmental organizations, or health services with qualified researchers.

The regulations for the presentation of proposals are available at the site www.aids.gov.br.

The duration of the projects varies from six to 24 months.
