I do agree that better education about the consequences of sex must be pursued at even younger ages, however there needs to be a back-up plan for those whose condoms broke, their diaphragm slipped, they were raped, etc. While I do agree that it should not be used as a means of contraception in a general sense, I am glad that it is available. When I was 17, I had a condom break. I was very careful and responsible (using a condom every time I had sex) and knew that I was too young to have a child, let alone care for it. I was one of the first women in the US to have access to the morning after pill, and even now almost 9 years later it is still very controversial. It was not the most pleasant experience, however it was worth the peace of mind and well being to know that there would be no chance of a pregnancy. To think of how many abortions could be prevented if women had better access to this pill, it just frustrates me to think that people oppose it.
