The Olympic final was the most outrageous result that I have seen in any major soccer competition with the Brasileiras being totally ripped off by the no call on Cristiane\'s point blank shot being deflected out by a beaten defender who came sliding late in with her hands up - a technique no doubt taught by the same U.S. coach whose players put two Brasilian girls in the hospital in a prior game. The contrast between the cynical Americans with their million dollar ad deals and the grace, courage and style of the Brasilian girls could not have been greater. Cristiane had also hit the post just before regulation after one of the most beautiful sequences that I have ever seen when she wrong-footed her defender and the goalie with the same move and hit a spectacular curling ball that was more than she needed and just missed. - Guest Mon, 29 May 2006 21:21:21 +0100
