And can you imagine the value of the real estate property surrounding it,soaring sky hi?

Getting the buildings and prices for habitats to right up there where Jesus is. The ones who cannot afford it shall stay right there in poverty. The Lord shall redeem them, eventually. - Dom Oliveiro

Who, by their right mind would have voted for the Redeemer statue as one of "The Seven Wonders of the World" remains a mystery. I trust it was a mix of mindless godbotherers and as mindless so-called patriots.

The art deco statue, a 20th century reference to the ancient myth of Christ, has in no way any artistic, architectural or engeneering merits, and is about as backward as its motif.

Its only redeeming feature is, that it visually co-exists relatively peacefully with its environment. - Dom Oliveriro

According to Brazilian ONGs, the price for staples such as rice, bean, sugar and meat have not had significant increases in the past four years.

I think that instead of believing in ONGs,you should consult your family in Brazil about the prices (especially about dairy products and meat). China is defintely going to find other countries to buy from.

My question is:What is the reason for the infusion of Billions of dollars into the economy (BOVESPA),knowing fully well of the coruption ? Another question I have for you is: Will you be willing to put all your savings in BOVESPA and if not what percentage? - Paulo Cunha

The prices for minerals and soybeans are established by the laws of supply and demand and if Brazil increases its prices, China would probably find other countries to sell these goods cheaper. My point, is that the infusion of billions of dollars into the Brazilian economy has given this most despicable president license to openly flirt with corruption (and probably overly sleep with it). According to Brazilian ONGs, the price for staples such as rice, bean, sugar and meat have not had significant increases in the past four years.

I believe that idolatry is wrong. Having said that, I believe that we are under Grace and not under the Law. If you are going to take those verses literally Cornelius, then you will have to destroy all the work of art depicting the Lord Jesus and other Bible characters. And while you are at it, go to your Sunday School and burn all the books and Bible stories that have a drawing of Jesus Christ.
As you can see, to misinterpret the Bible is just as bad as not to believe it.

Christ my Redeemer

Christ my Redeemer

About 100 million people over the whole world have chosen the seven new wonder of the world. … Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro …

Since Jesus Christ is Eternal God, it is blasphemy to make any kind of an “image” of Christ in ANY form. These are the words of God to the whole human race:
Exodus 20:4-5 “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD [JEHOVAH] thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;” (This is repeated in Deuteronomy 5:8-9)

Romans 1:22-25 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”
Wall Street sees our country as one of the strongest emerging economies in the world, along with India and China.
Fine for the Wall Street and the investors in BOVESPA. I dont know if you have invested in BOVESPA on the advice of WSJ and if you did, all the best.

Exporting minerals, soy and other agricultural products for peanuts to China is bringing billions of dollars to our country, I agree. Of course, WSJ would not talk about the soaring prices of the food products for the Brazilian consumers, nor how the middle class and the small businesses are being screwed.

btw, is WSJ not being bought by Rupert Murdoch? - Paulo Cunha

Corcovado is very beautiful, indeed, but it seems to me that the concept here is to select structures built by men. Paulo, Brazil's exports have infused the country with billions of dollars and Wall Street sees our country as one of the strongest emerging economies in the world, along with India and China. - Alex
Lula is an idiot, the worst president we have had in the last 100 years who was lucky enough to be elected during a time of unprecedent economical growth. Marta is what she has always been, a member of the blind bourgeoisie, who understands more of sex and fashion than anything politic. Lula's approval rate only proves that the Brazilian people, in its majority, is still very ignorant and obtuse.

You made all these comments and I did not!!!

What unprecedented economic growth you are talking about? Another myth created by a Marketing campaign carefully orchestrated by his cronies. - Paulo Cunha

I am a Brazilian, naturalized American man and would like to disagree with the inclusion of the Cristo in the list. The statue is no doubt breathtaking, but so are the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower. The seven wonders should be chosen by people who truly understand art, such as a committee of notables, rather than by the populace so easily influenced by weasels such as Lula. The result, at least in the case of the Cristo, was merely the result of a marketing campaign. - Alex
