Those tricks will be voter suppression, fear mongering, swiftboating and a host of other Rovian tactics that massacred McSame in 2000 by Bushy &co during the primaries., and now embraced by the "straight talk express" himself after years of whining about how unfair they were. I feel I've done my part to play dirty tricks. I let my kid put up a sign in the yard for the candidate he's been led into thinking was the right one. One that I know will be quite the opposite of what the vast majority of the neighbors will think. So, in effect, rather than spending the time to explain many things in great detail and help the kid explore his knowledge / consider what may be underneath his decision, I've stuffed the local voting box for the opposition! The neighbors just couldn't possibly stay away from the polls having had that stuck up right in front of their face. Oh how I feel so low resorting to such tricks.

Problem is that fly-over country could exist without the coasts in some form, but the South Centrals and Newarks can't exist without the midlands, even for two weeks. That's just the way it is. How this would play out can't be predicted but I have never seen people more upset, on both sides.

Obama's honeymoon with the electorate would be short, but so would McCain's. You think the hatred towards Bush is bad? Just wait.

that is for certain, no matter how you like them, sunny side up, over easy, poached, boiled, scrambled, souffle'd, quiche'd, omlet'd, buried for a 1000 years, raw or even roostied (like ch.c), there's going to be a heck of a lot of people having to make do with eating eggs more and more. Especially if they don't know how to fish or don't live in the midlands where there's lots of cheese. It's going to get even tougher when the first thing to go on the chopping block is the Chicago (or is it someplace in Wisconsin?) point space pricing fix for wholesale milk. Moving to free market pricing internally is going to create such a scream that the socialists must be very very excited. That will re-enforce their backing more than anything ever could.

Qa'daquisha - the complimented parenting skills were a bit of a learned trait - I didn't say there was nothing said at all, only that I didn't make effort to go into great detail (and it was not the proper time as the kid was not receptive). That is not to say that there were no words spoken. The likeyhood is that those few that were will carry might and hopefully come to fruition by the time the kid becomes old enough to vote. Planting seeds of wisdom sometimes takes a bit more dilligence, effort, self control and above all else, patience to let things grow free.

If the “race” factor were not an issue in the United States of America, considering the appalling state of the global economy, which I fear represents the beginning of Phase-2 of the decline of American predominance in Global Affairs, I would have been exceedingly confident with the inevitable victory of the Democratic ticket during the upcoming American Presidential and congressional elections.

However, we live unfortunately in a rather disagreeable, cruel planet, where racial factors (despite some noticeable recent improvement across the civilized portions of the globe) remain an important, significant issue, which is likely to play a (last minute) role on Nov 4, 2008. Such “11th Hour” element may far surpass many of the recently broadcasted “public views”, “official poll results” and overall tendencies… Indeed, my greatest fear is the likelihood of a scenario where many (Anglo-Saxon) voters, especially those in the Southern & Central portions of the USA - when asking their own consciences/hearts about the correct way to vote within the privacy of the voting booth - may find themselves unable or unwilling to cast a vote for an individual whose ethnicity is mixed (which many White Americans consider an insult to their racist morality). In addition, such (troubled) individuals may start reflecting upon Republican illicitly inspired “rumors” whereby Mr. Obama would have indirect links with Islamic groups (a factor which could easily be reinforced by the candidate’s family links with Kenya).

If one were to take the above scenario under consideration, CH-C’s suggested surprising results would come to fruition, thereby providing yet another blow to whichever lingering possibilities of any eventual American recovery in economic, social and political terms; for I have no doubt that a McCain victory (particularly with a Fanatical religious, inexperienced, and biased running mate) will inevitably lead to a series of events that would cascade America into a steeper, and even more drastic decline in terms of wealth, power, and influence across the World…

Sadly, I fear the famous tenet “History Repeats Itself” is about to get another boost, if one considers the strong likelihood of an immediate deterioration of American Power, Weight, and Authority during the early 21st century; as it would parallel the equivalent historic British decline, which the World has witnessed during the beginning of the 20th Century… In fact, we could even equate the purely symbolic sinking of the Titanic in 1911 (considered by some historians as a psychological indicator of the Imperial downfall), with the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City in 2001… Likewise, we might compare the embarrassing results of the Boar Conflict in South African (which followed equivalent results in the Sudan) with the recent American military interventions in Iraq & Afghanistan… Finally, while the British Aristocracy was still considering itself at the top of the World and boasting their mighty role during extravagant parties during the “London Season” of 1908”, we may compare them with the Wall Street magnate’s excesses of 2007-2008...

To refrain from further digression, it suffice to conclude this entry with my excessively pessimist expectations for the next few decades, which are likely to include significant economic hardship in the West, famine throughout most of the Third Word, along with conflict and/or civil unrest nearly everywhere… At any rate, if we take into account the current economic crises on top of the pre-existing Chinese rise and Islamic threat to Western culture and values, even if we are luck and are “granted with the gift” of Mr. Obama’s victory, I am nearly certain that the surviving global victims of the upcoming chaotic period of transition will inevitably result in a significant shift in the World Order.
