 Brazilian ceramic wall and floor tile maker Porto Ferreira is going to participate in the Big 5 Show, in the building sector in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, from November 23rd to 27th. Among the products to be exhibited by the company, special attention goes to a line decorated with images of fruit and flowers.
"It is one of the lines of greatest success among the Arab importers in the 2006 edition of the fair. Soon after that we closed three or four contracts for shipments, but the agreements did not follow through. This time we want to retake the contacts with former clients and, mainly, make new contacts with importers," stated Gustavo Rodrigues, export manager at Porto Ferreira. According to him, the company has already made contact with distributors in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
"Big 5 is an excellent window. The Middle East is a market with great potential, with many buyers and with great funds. We are sure that our investment should generate return," said Rodrigues. To present his products at the fair, which is considered the most important in the sector in the Middle East, Porto Ferreira is going to take catalogues, pamphlets and banners in Arabic, plus samples of products. "We made sure to prepare all the promotional material in Arabic," he explained.

Porto Ferreira. which was founded in 1931, started selling abroad around 15 years ago and has customers mainly in the countries of South America. Today, exports answer to 10% of company revenues.
With a factory in the city of Porto Ferreira, around 230 kilometers away from São Paulo, the company generates 500 direct jobs and produces around 800,000 cubic meters of flooring and wall tiles.
The 2008 edition of the Big 5 Show should have strong presence of Brazilian companies. The Brazil Pavilion, organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), should include 37 companies. The space will cover 480 square meters and will be in the central hall of the Dubai World Trade center.
This will be the third Brazilian participation in the Big 5 Show and the objective is to show buyers the diversification of building material made in Brazil, including possibilities for customization.
Apart from that, over 200 Brazilian businessmen - members of class organizations and of the government - are expected to visit the fair and have opportunities to show the production capacity of the building industry, whose revenues in 2008 should reach US$ 46.2 billion, according to figures supplied by the Brazilian Association of the Construction Material Industry (Abramat).
