Brazil President Sees Crisis as Chance to Create New Global Economic Order PDF Print E-mail
Written by Newsroom
Wednesday, 17 June 2009

Economic crisis The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva urged unions and workers to take advantage of the global financial crisis to help forge a new world economic order. He also criticized multilateral organizations for having no plans to address the current global crisis.

"I address myself now to the labor leaders." Lula told a global jobs summit at the International labor Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

"This is an exceptional opportunity for all of you to think and develop proposals together with the employers and business leaders so that we can change definitely the relations between state and civil society and so that we can build our countries with much more fairness and much more solidarity," he said.

Lula added that destabilizing surges last year in oil and commodity prices had been due to speculation.

"We cannot live with a financial system that speculates paper on top of paper without generating one single job, without manufacturing one screw, one shoe, one shirt, one tie" the former union leader told the conference to frequent applause.

"This economic crisis has opened an enormous perspective so that we can discuss everything, everything can be put on the table" he said.

The G20 group of rich and emerging countries, of which Brazil is a member, has asked the ILO to design policies to build a recovery from the crisis. ILO says it is important to avoid a lag in job creation as the economy recovers, because jobs and incomes will underpin the consumption needed as a foundation for sustainable growth.

Further on he said that "you're witnesses that with the crisis for the eighties and nineties, when the World Bank and the IMF had all the solutions for the poor countries, but when the crisis hits the US, Japan and Europe, they don't have the least proposal to address it."

"The big banks and financial institutions had assessments and knew about the economic situation of countries in Latinamerica and Africa but they did not have five seconds to assess their own risks," he added.

The crisis had exposed the falseness of "neo-liberal" doctrines calling for the state to be limited and everything to be left to the market, he said. Only the state had the power to bail out banks when the crisis hit, he said.

"It's only the state that has the guarantee and credibility to do what the markets did not manage to do," he said.

Lula said he was disappointed that last year there was not sufficient consensus to conclude the Doha round of trade talks, which for eight years has been under discussion in an attempt to liberate trade.

"This would have helped reduce the huge government subventions of rich countries to their farmers and which constrict the production capacity of countries in Africa and Latinamerica," underlined the Brazilian president.

Again my question that I put forth in the sister site:

Is anybody going to listen to your advice? you know as well as I do that the labor unions control the country in cahoots with the labor Tribune. If you complain about your handyman, he is bound to sue you in the "Tribune" and you are screwed.

BTW, the labor unions are not going to create any Goddamed "New Global Order" and you better believe in me! smilies/cheesy.gif

That is certainly the case in Brazil !

Does Brazil knows how to produce quality shoes, quality screws, quality shirts ?
You are competing with---CHINA....not with the developed nations....until proven otherwise.

Or do you wish to compete with cars builders ? What is Brazil knowledge, expertise, technology and the name of Brazilian cars companies ?????
Same for your mega grains production. 90 % of seeds SOLD in Brazil are produced by FOREIGN COMPANIES...NOT BRAZILIAN COMPANIES. What would be Your grains production without these foreign seeds, pesticides, fongicides ?
What would be your grains productions without FOREIGN TRACTORS...MADE IN BRAZIL ?????
And how do you transport these grains. By FOREIGN TRUCKS...MADE IN BRAZIL...OF COURSE !

And despite having a lot of fertilizers mines, you are one of the world largest IMPORTER !
Too difficult to extract fertilizers, and crush them ?
Even Moroccans can do that and they export a lot of....FERTILIZERS ! Not Brazil !

Good luck Brazil for your exports of shirts to....CHINA, INDIA AND BANGLADESH !

Hmmmm

ch.c., why do you hate Brazil so much?
written by NS, June 19, 2009
how come you hate Brazil so much? Because you don't manage to be objective when you're criticizing Brazil. Just a few facts:
- Brazil enjoyed a positive agricultural trade balance of (USD) $38 billion in 2005. Agriculture making up 30% of Brazil 's GDP and 40% of Brazils exports.
- Brazil is the worlds largest producer of sugar cane, ethanol, coffee, tropical fruits and orange juice
- Brazil has the worlds largest cattle herd (50% larger than the US )
- Brazil is the second largest producer of soybeans and poultry
- Brazil has one of the most advanced industrial sectors in Latin America (1/3 of their GDP) which consists of: automobiles, parts, steel, textiles, cement, lumber, iron, petrochemicals, computers and aircraft.

China, India Bangladesh?? Say USA and Europe. Why does the USA keep high tairfs on brazilian ethanol, which produces much more energy than american-made corn-based ethanol?? Why does Europe keep high tarifs on brazilian agricultural products? To keep the low-productivity, high-wage european food producers happy. Have you ever seen a farmers demonstration in France? There is no politician in France who is not afraid of them.

Just keep yourself objective.

Kind regards,

NS .

The USA is finished.

You're right but Brazil isn't going much further. This is all PROPHECY.

And there are seven kings: five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet arrived, but when he does arrive he must remain a short while. 11 And the wild beast that was but is not, it is also itself an eighth [king], but springs from the seven, and it goes off into destruction.
12 “And the ten horns that you saw mean ten kings, who have not yet received a kingdom, but they do receive authority as kings one hour with the wild beast. 13 These have one thought, and so they give their power and authority to the wild beast.
REVELATION 17:10-13

The 7th king will get weak before all the 10 horns give it up to the wild beast.
That's our NEW WORLD ORDER. smilies/wink.gif smilies/wink.gif
