During a visit, yesterday, to Brasília, the Cuban Minister of Foreign Relations, Felipe Peréz Roque, defended Brazil's candidacy for a permanent seat on the United Nations (UN) Security Council.
"We hold the same position as Brazil in favor of a multipolar world, a world in which the UN's role and authority are strengthened, concurrently with a profound reform and democratization of the United Nations," the Minister declared.
In the National Congress, in Brasília, Peréz Roque met with Senator José Sarney (PMDB-AP) and Deputy João Paulo Cunha (PT-SP), presidents, respectively, of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, to discuss cultural exchange between the two countries.
According to him, approximately 600 Brazilian students are enrolled in Cuban universities, and around 1 million Cubans are learning to speak Portuguese by accompanying televised courses.
