Greater rigor on the part of Brazil's National Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) in approving forest management plans helped to avoid the cutting of approximately 950 thousand trees in the Amazon region.

The tree want is probably pau d'arco if you're looking for a medicinal plant that some believe can cure even cancer.
