Brazil's Arab Summit Will Decry Terrorism PDF Print E-mail
Written by Marcos Chagas
Tuesday, 10 May 2005

The final document of Brazil's Summit of South American - Arab Countries to be signed by Heads of State or Government participating in the event, will "clearly condemn terrorism," announced the Minister of Foreign Relations, Celso Amorim.

The Brazilian Chancellor coordinated a meeting with more than 30 Arab and South American ministers to consolidate the document text, which will be discussed today by Heads of State or Government, at the Blue Tree Park Hotel.

Amorim affirmed that in addition to condemning terrorism, the document will include a paragraph about the "right of resistance to foreign occupation, according to international humanitarian law."

The Minister said that the document prepared by the chancellors will also mention the sovereignty of the Falkland (Malvinas) Islands, under dispute by Argentina and England.
