At the Second Plenary Meeting of Heads of State and Government at the South America - Arab Countries Summit, yesterday, the Prime Minister of Syria, Mohammad Naji Al Otri, said that combatting terrorism "is one of the world's biggest challenges."
He criticized the "unilateral" approach to this issue and emphasized that terrorism will only be combatted in all its forms when "we deal with the problems related to poverty, social inequality, and illiteracy."
Al Otri also criticized the recent performance of the United Nations (UN) for having increased tensions in the international relations arena.
"As a result of its policy, the UN and its organizations have provoked more tensions in international relations, making it necessary for us to consult and collaborate more to carry out a new reform and reorganization of this international body," he affirmed.
Regarding the intensification of future commercial and cultural relations among South American and Arab countries, the Syrian Prime Minister assured that his country is inclined to offer every possible facility for economic and cultural exchanges with the countries of Latin America.
"The Arab and South American countries need to consolidate their relations and expand their commercial and cultural agreements to guarantee international stability and security," he concluded.
