Written by Newsroom
Monday, 23 May 2005

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva left Brazil, Sunday, on a trip to South Korea and Japan. He will arrive in Seoul, capital of South Korea, tonight.

Tomorrow, Lula will participate on the VI Global Forum on Reinventing Government. He will also have a meeting with Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun, and will be at the closing ceremony of the Seminary about Investments in Brazil.

According to the press service of the Planalto Palace, Lula will try to expand trading exchange between South Korea and Brazil, which has already surpassed US$ 3 billion.

To accomplish it, the President has scheduled meetings with several entrepreneurs of that country. During this visit, memorandums of understanding about the establishment of a Center of Information Technology in Brazil, and about the creation of an Agricultural Consulting Committee will be concluded.

On Thursday, May 26, Lula will participate in a meeting with Japan Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. They will discuss the bilateral agenda, and the reform of the United Nations Security Council.

On the 27th, Japan’s Emperor, Akihito, will receive Lula. The Brazilian President will also meet Japanese business people.

In the afternoon, he will be on the closing ceremony of the Joint Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Committee CNI-Keidanren, as well as of the Seminary Brazil-Japan: Investment Opportunities. During both events, there will be panels about ethanol, tourism, and information technology.

In addition to the President, 432 Brazilian entrepreneurs and nine Ministers will go on the trip. The delegation will be back to Brazil on the 29th.
