Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received the Prime Minister of Belize, Said Musa, today in the Planalto Palace. Lula and the Premier discussed the reform of the UN, international cooperation in the war on poverty, and bilateral trade.
Business with Belize has been advantageous to Brazil. According to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade, Brazil exported over US$ 380 million in the first four months of this year.
The chief export products are: cream, digging equipment, canned foods, ceramics, seeds, and tractors. Imports during this period totaled US$ 31.25 million. Frozen meats constitute most of the purchases.
The Belizean Prime Minister will remain in the country until June 9. Belize is a small Central American country located between Guatemala and Mexico, on the Caribbean Sea coast.
The population of over 260 thousand inhabitants is composed of descendants of Africans, Indians, and Europeans.
