Brazil Will Become a World Power Despite the Big Powers, Says Lula PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ana Paula Marra
Thursday, 21 July 2005

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reaffirmed that one of his government's priorities is Brazil's integration with the countries of South America, China, and India.

The President made the comment at yesterday's, July 20, inauguration of the North and Northeast Regional Center of Nuclear Sciences (CRCN-NE), in the Northeast Brazilian city of Recife,

Brazil, Lula added, spent years "intellectually and politically" subordinated to the great powers. Thus, he proposed the alternative development strategy of "looking to neighboring countries."

The President said that his Administration is willing to face up to whatever is required to prove that Brazil "is not going to throw away" the chance to become a great nation, "regardless of who may take offense."

Lula affirmed that the government is intent on making Brazil a better country. He argued that leadership capacity depends much more upon people's character and intelligence than their academic training.

In his speech, he recalled that, in Brazil, "more than just a few leaders presumed to administer the country for the sake of 35 or, at most, 40 million Brazilians, the ones who make up the consumer market."

According to Lula, including the entire Brazilian population in the government's plan, as he has done, "is a task that is infinitely more difficult but, at the same time, more gratifying."

I too want to see Brasil suceed and be a superpower. They have the resoursources without a doubt. I am an American and I will say this. The best way for Brasil to realize it's true potential is to clean up corruption and develop a true"open, transparent" democracy. To lean on China is a big mistake.Even Brasilians recognize that China buys only natural resources, and then "dumps" manufactured goods on your market. Keep your chin up and hold your officials accountable. You are headed in thr right direction.

I agree. Brazil should not be so trust worthy of China. Brazil becarefull!
Work more with Venezuela, Peru, Puaraguay, Uraguay, Chile and Argentina. You must be carefull with Argentina....Do not allow her to dominate the pols in Latin America, remeber she is your internal enemy and very jelious of Brazil's potential on a global scale. She wants to be the leader of South America with out a cause. You must be very cautious of Russia, she is a sneaky counrty and can break her promises very quickly. Russia is politically a unstable nation that easily channge sides without any real political gain except for herself. Sneaky Russia. Watch out for China
she is very thirsty and she may burn you from time to time.

Brazil has the potential to be a Superpower, possibly the one of the only two that have survived the Post Cold War era, Brazil has everything, as with Argentina, China and Russia, Brazil has the weapons to deal with Russia, the resources to deal with Argentina (which lost the Falklands, something Brazil wouldn't have done) and the work force to deal out the People's Republic of China. Brazil has also the the nessesary healthcare to take Cuba down of the "Best Healthcare" throne and one thing ¿Brazil has the cultural influence to overpower and vanquish the very United States in the Global Scenario, I think Brazil one day will be what is the USA or Asia right now...

I'm not Brazilian, I'm Panamanian but I need to say this:
PATRIA AMADA BRASIL!
