 A new site covering Brazilian politics and business has been launched. It's Brazil Political Comment. It contains current and selected articles by São Paulo-based consultant and writer John Fitzpatrick, who has been commenting on Brazilian political affairs for a decade.
Fitzpatrick's work has been acknowledged by figures such as Gustavo Loyola, former Brazilian Central Bank president; Vinod Thomas, World Bank director for Brazil and Professor Kenneth Maxwell of Harvard University, formerly of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies.
The journalist has also been lauded by Professor Edgar J. Dosman, Chair of Brazilian Studies, York University, Toronto; Professor Joseph. A. Page, Georgetown University, Washington, author of "The Brazilians", Alcides Ferreira, communications director of Tendências Economic Consulting, São Paulo, and Rodney Mello, publisher and founder of Brazzil magazine and brazzil.com.
"The aim of the site is to make Brazilian politics more accessible and understandable to an international audience, particularly in the run-up to the 2006 presidential election. I also hope Brazilians will find the views of a resident foreigner useful even though they may not agree with them," said Fitzpatrick, who first visited Brazil in 1987 and has been based in São Paulo since 1995.
Fitzpatrick has worked as a reporter, sub-editor, news editor, editor and columnist for newspapers, magazines, financial news agencies and radio stations in various countries. He was an associate editor of infobrazil.com for four years and is a regular columnist for brazzil.com. He has also worked as an in-house editor for Brazilian and foreign banks and financial institutions.
