Brazil's Trade Surplus Keeps Growing. It's Already Over US$ 31 Billion. PDF Print E-mail
Written by Stênio Ribeiro
Monday, 19 September 2005

Brazilian shipments abroad resumed their growth pace last week, when the country exported products worth US$ 2.840 billion, for a daily average of US$ 568 million (5 business days). Imports also grew, but at a slower pace, to US$ 1.538 billion.

As a result, the trade balance surplus (exports minus imports) for the week was US$ 1.302 billion, for a daily surplus of US$ 260.4 million. The overall surplus for the first 11 business days in September rose to US$ 2.683 billion, the difference between US$ 5.777 billion in exports and US$ 3.094 billion in imports.

So far this year, the country's trade surplus amounts to US$ 31.031 billion. These general figures were released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade.
