Representatives of Brazil, Chile, Spain, Portugal, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, and Cape Verde, together with international agencies, are gathered in the northeastern Brazilian city of Fortaleza to participate in the 4th Brazil Local Development Expo, which ends today.
One of the purposes of the meeting, which began on Wednesday, October 12, is to encourage new relationships and partnerships to stimulate sustainable local development in various regions of Brazil and to contribute to international cooperation in this field. The topics discussed Friday, October 14, were International Microcredit Year; the activities of the government and strategic partners for job and income creation and local development; public consortia; sustainable, integrated local development in Brazilian water basins; culture and youth in metropolitan areas; and regional decentralization and local development in Portuguese-speaking countries.
