Brazil's Vaccine for Foot and Mouth Disease Is Effective, Says International Lab PDF Print E-mail
Written by Lana Cristina
Tuesday, 18 October 2005

The vaccine used in Brazil to immunize cattle against hoof and mouth disease protects against the type "O" virus identified in the focus discovered in the municipality of Eldorado, Mato Grosso do Sul.

This information comes from the Animal Health Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, which received a communication Monday, October 17, from the Pan-American Center for Hoof and Mouth Disease (Panaftosa), containing the results of tests performed on the Brazilian vaccine.

According to a note from the Ministry, the vaccine is produced by six certified private laboratories. "All the vaccines are tested, batch by batch," said Jorge Caetano, director of the Animal Health Department.

Caetano added that the result announced by the Panaftosa clearly demonstrates the efficacy of the vaccine produced in Brazil. He pointed out that the quality of the vaccine can be altered by inadequate storage or incorrect application. For example, the material must be refrigerated but cannot be frozen.

In the same analysis, the Panaftosa concluded that the virus detected in Eldorado is a type common in South America; therefore, the species is not exotic in Brazil.

The Brazilian vaccine against hoof and mouth disease protects against the three types of virus most common in South America: "A," "C," and "O."

....if the vaccine is effective.....can someone from the government explain....why the disease appeared ?????? Smile...... !

And if the vaccine is effective.....why have you cut the budget for animals sanitation from 167 millions, then reduced it to 90 millions ?????
BUT BUT why only 30 millions....freed so far !!!!!!
Again and again ....clarification are really unclear....similar to the corruptions scandal !!!

Things simply dont add up !

could be that.....

...the real vaccine was smuggled outside Brazil to pay for the political corruption and that simple pellets or water was given to cattles to give an appearance that cattles were vaccinated for FMD.

An article in Brazzilmag said that no cattle was vaccinated this year in Mato Grosso do Sul !!!!!!!!

Otherwise, as proclaimed, if your vaccine is really effective...why did the disease appeared ?????

Strange....strange....!!!!!!
