Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Roberto Rodrigues, affirmed that he will negotiate with the Infraero (Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Enterprise) to install detectors of organic material in airports, to prevent the entry of bird flu virus in the country.
Rodrigues met today with the Minister of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade, Luiz Fernando Furlan, and the country's principal producers and exporters of chicken. According to Rodrigues, the same measures should also be adopted in Brazilian ports. "We decided on the creation of a group composed of government and private representatives, headed by the Ministry of Agriculture, to establish precisely this instrument of prevention and inspection on the matter of bird flu," the minister added. The Infraero is a State enterprise, linked to the Ministry of Defense. It administers 66 airports, 81 flight navigation support units, and 32 cargo logistics terminals. ABr

....like in many products you are always afraid of importing....never at exporting things.....such as FMD infected cattles.
...Has Rodriguez never thought yet....that may be.... who knows.... you could eventually also export the bird's flu...if you are contaminated....FIRST ?????????
Smile..........
By having one of the largest forest land with so many wild birds and being the number one exporter of poulty....that situation is by far not impossible !!!!!!!
But the imagination of Rodriguez and your government has been quite poor, the way they handled the FMD disease....by reducing the sanitation budget by well over 50 %.
So eventually your government will also reduce later the budget for the detectors they want to put at Brazil entries.
They already have a zero budget....to avoid exporting eventually the bird's flu !!!!!
That could explain why some countries already included other products than meat/cattles in their bans !!!!!!!!!!
A true joke... a true tragedy...once more...of your government mismanagements and lack of visions !!!!!!
