The major problem in Brazil (and the world) is the overpopulation.
There is way too many people in the contry. And too little jobs.
There most be a balance. If Brazil can not create more jobs it
must lower the birth rate. I can't see why poor people automatically
should have the right to get children if they hardly can't support
themselfes. If a person, so survive, must sell himself to slavery the
situation will not be any better creating children to face the same
destiny. As some poor people can not understand that, the country
must go in and force them. The situation in the "favellas" is a every day
growing problem. The solution is not giving them "cesta basica" but a forced family planning policy.
The world has more than 6 billion people. Half would be enough. The politicians all over the world want to increase their populations as they think the more people, the more power. If half lives in poverty, they don't care. They only blame the other half of the world for living too well!

If you take the root of the cause, you´ll find that is impossible a birth planning if the maing religion in Brazil encourages their church goer not wearing condoms or others ways to prevent child natality or sexual diseases. In my opinion the land with slave labour should be handed over to the state , nevertheless those land found with slave labour belongs to politician.

I really don't think taking the right of people to have children is going to solve the poverty problem... For a number of reasons. The first obvious one is human rights, and I think the if there is one fundamental right it is life and difnity. Second, Brazil is not the largest population in the world. And though it is a very populated country, it is a large one too.
The third one is a matter of cause and consequences. Though overpopulation is a real problem, and we need to educate people about it,I don't think the cause of the conuntries inequalities is the population growth. Solving the poverty problem it is not as simple as removing all the poor people. Some people think that if you throw a bomb in a favela and kill all the poor people living there it would end up the problem... Finish one favela and another one is going to surge just next to it.
It is clear to me that the poverty is caused by an unfair income distribution system.
Saying poor people are poor simply because they are not smart enough seems to be a little too much for me.
And some people can not understand why so many people supported Hittler. Careful with those ideas!

The EU is geograqphically smaller than Brazil but we have around twice as much people.
Brazil is larger than the whole USA b ut have aalso less people
India is not larger than Brazil but have several times the number of citizens as in Brazil.
Similar equation could be said for China, Indonesia, Mexico and many other countries if we take the density of people per square kilometers !

So how can anyone say that you have overpulation ?

On top of that you have by far the largest and most productive agricultural land in the world ! You are what you call yourself : the garden of the world. But despite all these positive you still have hunger ! Quite contradictory !

As to the slave labour, it is quite surprising that landowners found guilty risk so little if you are truly serious about eradiction of slavery ! They should get long jail terms. But I suppose that slavery and corruption have a few things in common in Brazil. Both are done by either high rankings politicians or by very wealthy businessmen that corrupt politicians and the judicial system !
