18% of Brazil's 5000 Municipalities Offer Plenty of Sex Tourism PDF Print E-mail
Written by Michèlle Canes

The non-governmental organization (NGO), World Vision, campaign to combat sexual tourism is based on data gathered by Professor Maria Lúcia Pinto Leal, of the Brasília University (UnB).

According to the researcher, of the 5 thousand plus Brazilian municipalities, 930 present great numbers of cases of sexual tourism. She says that the Northeast leads the rank, followed by the Southeast, South, Central West and North regions.

The Professor emphasizes that it is necessary to strengthen the programs that have the objective of combating this crime, although, furthermore, it is also necessary to establish policies in three government levels: federal, state, and municipal.

"Campaigns alone won’t matter if there is not a clear policy to combat poverty and the lack of punishment."

Leal also revealed that among the exploited children and adolescents, the majority are black girls between 15-25 years old.

"They have already suffered violence in their households, have already been exploited. They leave their cities and receive several misleading proposals to improve their lives."

"Campaigns alone won’t matter if there is not a clear policy to combat poverty and the lack of punishment."

But at the end, is the non-tourism sex, not at least 10 times greater than the sex tourism ????

Combatting only the sex tourism representing 10 % and not the 90 % of non- -tourism sex (with local residents) will change very little the overall situation.

And 100 % of your 5000 municipalities offer plenty of sex to non-tourists.

Something is wrong, by not combatting the problems at the roots : those who provide and oblige prostitution.

Are brazilian prostitutes better cared for when it is a brazilian that use their "services" ? Better paid, maybe ? Or do you want to reserve them just for you ?

And why putting in the same basket the 15-25 years. At 15 years, they are minor and at 25 they are adult. And YOU legalized prostitution for adult women. But you dont fight really withj insistence children prostitution and not much more children abuse.

Sorry but your article stinks !

Afterall can an adult brazilian prostitute not choose with whom she prefers to go ?
Would it be illegal when she has foreign clients but legal when she has brazilian clients ???????????????

It stinks more and more on the untold part of your thinkings in your article.
