Brazil's Embraer Shows Off Its Latest Military Plane in Asia PDF Print E-mail
Written by Newsroom
Friday, 17 February 2006

Brazilian Embraer  will show the Super Tucano military trainer aircraft for the first time  on the Asian continent. The turboprop will be showcased at Asian  Aerospace 2006, one of the three biggest aviation trade events in the world.

The Asian Aerospace event opens on February. 21 at the Changi Exhibition  Center, in Singapore. Embraer's Intelligence, Surveillance and  Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems will also be promoted at the show.

Embraer will also introduce Luiz Carlos Aguiar - the new Executive  Vice-President, Defense and Government Market - who will appear for the  first time at an air show after taking on the job in December. Aguiar previously served as Embraer's chairman of the board.

The Super Tucano will take a tour of Asia and the Middle East after the  trade show, when a number of air forces will have the opportunity to  evaluate the airplane. The aircraft departed from Brazil in early  February and covered 11,500 nautical miles (21,298 km).

Embraer forecasts demand for 150 to 200 Super Tucanos in Asia and the  Middle East over the coming five years.

A turboprop isn't a jet.

Embraer is cool though. They make good airplanes.

Beg to differ. Embraer has a number of ongoing safety-related problems that their poorly paid and undermanned staff have been and still are incapable of solving on their own. There is still way too much reliance on the multitude of "partners" that Embraer uses to design and manufacturer systems and components. This relegates Embraer to the role of an assembler of aircraft as opposed to a true aircraft manufacturer. There are too many partner-supplied components in their aircraft, of which they have only the faintest understanding and worse yet don't fully appreciate the potential implications a failure can have in aircraft so many integrated systems. They just put 'em together and cross their fingers. They've been lucky until now because past Embraer aircraft did not use the sophisticated software technology (fly-by-wire) that is currently in the assembly lines so my guess is that their luck will be changing soon and not for the better. Unfortunately, the company is not likely to address these issued until it is drug kicking and screaming into the US or European legal system as the result of a design error resulting in a major accident. Watch the safety and reliability of the 170 and 190 fleet over the next few years as compared to the rest of the commercial aircraft industry and I believe that youll see that my comments will be borne out.

Be responsible and by all means sign your name at end of your comments... Embraer is one of the top airplanes manufactures in the world as the Canadian Bombardier's well knows it.
There's not an ounce of thruth in your dilusional statements Mr. Heheheh, and that is why you didn't signed your name after your article Mr. Heheheh . I dare you to answer me with your full name and qualifications... It looks to me that your knowledge is faulty, non-factual, confused... and fully mixed with anger.
Sincerely,
Jorge Correa
