After Hospital Visit Brazil's Ronaldo Is Back in Training PDF Print E-mail
Written by Newsroom

Brazilian football player Ronaldo went through a series of medical tests and doctors found no abnormalities with the striker, who returned to the team hotel and was cleared to practice today, June 15, the Brazilian Soccer Confederation says on its Web site.

Talking to journalists just before practice, Ronaldo lamented the way he played against Croatia but denied he had any emotional problem.

"I fee very well with myself and feel bad for not playing well in my latest game. I wish to feel good on Sunday so I can have an excellent participation."

The 29-year-old Real Madrid forward fell ill only a few hours after returning to the team's training camp in Koenigstein, near Frankfurt, after his dismal performance in Brazil's opening 1-0 win over Croatia on Tuesday, June 13.

Ronaldo was substituted in the 69th minute against Croatia, having had one shot on goal in the match.

The Brazilian squad had been given the day off training on Wednesday and was not due to play again until the Group F match against Australia in Munich on Sunday.

Croatia 1:0

The world champions seem unconcerned by their unconvincing start to the defense of their crown, insisting that the three points were always going to be more important than the performance in their first game.

Before the match, Parreira had repeated numerous times that the world would not see the best of his side, and their embarrassing array of talent, in their first outing.

It was not the most memorable of victories, but Brazil clinched all three Group F points with a truly memorable goal from Kaká, a minute before halftime.

Kaká controlled a pass from Cafu and made space for himself by holding off a challenge from two defenders before lashing home an unstoppable left-foot curler from 25 meters that gave Croatia's impressive goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa no chance.
