Exchange Students Leave Close to US$ 300 Million in Brazil Every Year |

Brazil receives about 60,000 foreign students per year, according to information from a research done last year by the Language Travel Magazine, renown English publication on travelling for studies.
Of this total, 50,000 come to the country for language program and combined courses and the remaining 10,000 for middle school, universities and profession courses. The information was released yesterday, June 29, by the Sebrae News Agency. The research also revealed that, in language courses, with combined activities and average stay of six weeks, each foreign student invests about US$ 2,250 in the Brazilian economy. In an annual course, the same student leaves about US$ 18,250. Student exchange tourism injects about US$ 285.7 million in the Brazilian economy every year. In May last year, the Brazilian Exchange Bureau was created, a program to increase the number of foreign students coming to Brazil, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, through the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur), and by the Brazilian Educational & Language Travel Association (Belta), as well as Brazilian universities, international teaching institutes, airlines and service companies in general.
