Brazil Calls US and Urges Immediate Cease-Fire in the Middle East PDF Print E-mail
Written by Elma Lia Nascimento
Thursday, 20 July 2006

During talks this morning, July 20, with the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, and the Israeli ambassador in Brazil, Tzipora Rimon, the Brazilian foreign minister, Celso Amorim has called for an immediate cease-fire in the Middle East.

Amorim also talked by telephone, yesterday, with UN Secretary Kofi Annan. In the three occasions he stressed the Brazilian position that hostilities should cease immediately, that Israel is using disproportionate force and protested against the killing of at least 7 Brazilians in Lebanon, 3 of them children.

Brazil's Foreign Ministry released a note about the Brazilian position about he Israeli-Hezbollah hostilities: "Minister Amorim stressed the disproportionate character of the Israeli military reaction.

"Dealing specifically with the Brazilian situation, he asked cooperation to insure that the Israeli authorities contain their military actions so that the risks of hitting Brazilian nationals
be lessened."

Talking to ambassador Rimon, says the note, Amorim "showed great concern at the escalation of the military conflict in Lebanon." The ambassador urged Israel not to attack areas identified as having a big concentration of Brazilians or roads being used by Brazilians trying to leave the country.

Amorim also met with Abdullah Gul, the Turkish foreign minister and thanked him for his country's help in rescuing Brazilians stranded in Lebanon.

There are hundreds of Brazilians in Lebanon, but Brazil's rescue operation carried out with a single old Boeing 707 has only taken around 100 Brazilian back home until now.

You could as well send a few other planes...such as those of Varig or the ex-presodential plane that is quite old.
And instead of telling the U.S.A. what to do, why dont you talk to Israel.....directly ? Afraid ?
Finally, you should do as much shit as you did when your Jean Charles died in the London bombings. But multiply your complaints by ten times louder and harsher since at least 10 Brazilians were killed.
Are these 10 Brazilians less important the Jean Charles ?
Are you not for Justice ?

Ohhhh....by the way.....what about the hundreds of innocents killed by your own police......annually ????? Have you rendered Justice as you expect others to do ?

Nooooooooo.....of course NOT !

Truth, Simply Put . . .
written by kit, July 21, 2006
Let the facts be displayed so simply that even a challenged mind with the attention span of a hamster can understand them:

If the Arabs quit fighting, there would be peace.
If the Israelis quit fighting, there would be a bloodbath.

This simple truth is enough to illuminate right from wrong for all but the most retarded.

hara dinhum!

Most Americans, Canadians and Brazilians in the south of Lebanon are Shi'ites, and many are tainted with the stench of Hizbollah.
May God preserve the innocent, but I think the Israelis are justified in killing those assholes who partied when Israel was raided and her young men kidnapped - may the granny who handed out candy suck on a bomb!
As for the infrastructure, the Lebanese government deserves the loss because they lacked the cojones to occupy their own country.

The Shame of Being an American
written by sads, July 22, 2006
Gentle reader, do you know that Israel is engaged in ethnic cleansing in southern Lebanon? Israel has ordered all the villagers to clear out. Israel then destroys their homes and murders the fleeing villagers. That way there is no one to come back and nothing to which to return, making it easier for Israel to grab the territory, just as Israel has been stealing Palestine from the Palestinians.

Do you know that one-third of the Lebanese civilians murdered by Israel's attacks on civilian residential districts are children? That is the report from Jan Egeland, the emergency relief coordinator for the UN. He says it is impossible for help to reach the wounded and those buried in rubble, because Israeli air strikes have blown up all the bridges and roads. Considering how often (almost always) Israel misses Hezbollah targets and hits civilian ones, one might think that Israeli fire is being guided by US satellites and US military GPS. Don't be surprised at US complicity. Why would the puppet be any less evil than the puppet master?

Of course, you don't know these things, because the US print and TV media do not report them.

Because Bush is so proud of himself, you do know that he has blocked every effort to stop the Israeli slaughter of Lebanese civilians. Bush has told the UN "NO." Bush has told the European Union "NO." Bush has told the pro-American Lebanese prime minister "NO." Twice. Bush is very proud of his firmness. He is enjoying Israel's rampage and wishes he could do the same thing in
