Infraero, the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company, a public organization that manages the airports in Brazil, is going to discuss the possibility of direct flights between the United Arab Emirates and Brazil in the month of September.
A group of professionals from the company is going to participate, between the 17th and 19th, in The World Route Development Forum, an international meeting of air transportation, in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The forum, which has space for exhibits and business meetings, takes place each year in a different country. In Dubai there will be 600 airport companies participating and 300 airlines, with a total of 2,000 professionals. According to the advisor to the presidency at Infraero, Ingrid Luck, the company is going to the forum to show the Brazilian airport sector, but plans to talk to airlines from the United Arab Emirates that are interested in flying to the country. Emirates Airlines has already announced their willingness to open a direct passenger flight between São Paulo and the United Arab Emirates, but it hasn't been implemented yet. Qatar Airways also wants to create a direct flight between São Paulo and Doha, capital of the Arab country, before the end of next year. Infraero isn't going to have a stand at the forum in Dubai, but will use the space in the fair for business meetings. Four professionals from the company will travel to the Arab Emirates at the time. The interest in the meeting, according to Luck, is not restricted to the Arab country. The representatives from Infraero will talk to airport companies and airlines from many countries. "To show our airports," stated the advisor. According to her, amongst the themes of the conversations are from attracting new flights to Brazil to technical cooperation agreements and airport security. Infraero will present, for example, says Luck, its project on industrial airports. Brazil has plans for creating five industrial airports. Brazilian airports already operational will have space for industrial plants, which will be, in fact, free zones with a series of tax breaks for exports. Infraero manages 67 airports in Brazil, through which 50.7 million passengers passed in the first six months of the year. The movement increased 12.6% in relation to the same period in 2005. In 2005, the airports received about 83 million passengers. The number of landings and take offs reached two million. Infraero has worked in the administration of Brazilian airports for 33 years. It is a company related to the Ministry of Defense. Last year, Infraero invested US$ 342.1 million to improve the airport infrastructure in the country. The World Route Development Forum is going to take place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center. Amongst the participating airport companies are Airports of Thailand Public Company, Airports of Portugal (ANA), Bahrain International Airport and Los Angeles World Airports.
