The main theme of the 10th Latin American Conference of Free Zones is mechanisms for attracting investments.  The event, which for the first time is being held in Brazil, is part of the 3rd Amazon International Fair (Fiam 2006), which starts today, August 30, and ends September 2.

It's all happening in Manaus, capital of the northern state of Amazonas.

The conference is promoted by the Committee of Free Zones of the Americas in partnership with the Superintendence of the Manaus Free Zone (Suframa).

The Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Luiz Fernando Furlan, should participate of the opening of the event, to be held in Manaus.

According to Suframa, some 400 participants are expected for the conference, between them, representatives of the free zones of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Porto Rico and Dominican Republic.

During the event there will be debates on issues such as the contribution of the incentive policies for development, globalization and the free trade treaties.
