Bush Calls Brazil's Lula and Asks About His Secret to Win Elections PDF Print E-mail
Written by José Wilson Miranda
Tuesday, 31 October 2006

The US President, George W. Bush, called reelected Brazilian President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, this Tuesday morning, October 31, to congratulate him.

In a very friendly and informal call the American leader told Lula, "Your victory was spectacular. You have to give me a little of your know how because I need it at this time".

Americans are going to the polls November 7 for congressional elections and Republicans are running the risk of losing their majority in the Senate or the Lower House or even in both houses of Congress.

The American president also invited Lula to pay a visit to the United States in the coming months. According to Foreign Relations Minister, Celso Amorim, who was present when Bush called, the US chief was "warm" during the whole short conversation.

British Premier, Tony Blair, also called Lula, today, to greet the Brazilian president. Blair told Lula that he intends to talk to him and other chiefs of state on matters dealing with the World Trade Organization (WTO). Lula used the occasion to invite him to visit Brazil.

On Monday, the British prime minister had already sent Lula a letter stressing the importance of resuming Doha's Round negotiations. Great Britain and other European countries as well as the United States have been resisting demands by emerging countries to reduce agricultural subsidies.

Spain's Prime Minister, José Luiz Zapatero, has also called Lula, but it was not revealed what they talked about. According to Amorim calls by presidents Hugo Chávez from Venezuela and Evo Morales from Bolivia, which were being expected this morning, were postponed.

The president had to leave the Palácio da Alvorada, the presidential residence, to tape a message to be carried out by a national TV and radio pool.

Lula is also expecting calls from Argentina's Néstor Kirchner and Libya's, Muammar Gadafi.

The President of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, yesterday, congratulated the Brazilian people for having chosen Lula for another four years, calling it a wise decision:

"From here we greet and congratulate the people of Brazil for this wise decision of reelecting with over 60% of the votes this great brother, friend and socialist comrade, working leader President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva."

And Chávez went on: "The significance of Brazil is as gigantic as its size. Brazil will soon reach 200 million people. The imperialistic capitalism was eyeing the country, trying to get rid of Lula. But here we have the Brazilian people confirming president Lula."

Therefore this article is only propaganda from populist PT party reporters !

You’re right strange; Bush can’t run again, although he still wants his bullies to hold the shotgun in congress. I just find it funny that one corrupt lying fool is seeking advice from another corrupt lying fool (although I’m sure it was only forced-friendly political banter). But the answer is obvious Bushy (and he knows this quite well); just cozy up to the lowest common denominator and everything will fall nicely into place. É facil hien, Lula?

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva
written by Gilson L. Schwab de CAstro, October 31, 2006
To the dismay of many pro-yankee imperialists, our good president Lula won again, with a margin of 60% of the votes. That proves that a negative and stupid campaign against Lula, led by the imperialist Americans joined by a special interest group of stupid Brazilians failed miserably. He is the President for the people, for the workers, those who work everyday on a factory or whatever. He is a legitimate representative of the working class. Scandals in the government are nothing new. Look at the aggressor Bush and his campaign of destroying Iraq, once a sovereign country who was, and still is, occupied by an oppressive Army of disfunctional and crazy Marines, whose bravery is to kill and maim children and old people. Remember the Min Lai episode in Viet Nam? Yes, they are the same old paranoids, commanded by a President even more sadistic and disfunctional.

Is it time for these guys leave Iraq, get the hell out there? Tell the puppet President of Iraq that they can take control of their country themselves and leave their oil alone. It's time for these nosy imperialist sons of a bitch to learn a lesson once and for all. Leave these countries alone, mind your own dirty, goddamn business... :-

I don’t see why Brazilians care about Iraq. I sure as hell don’t see how what happens over there affects anything in this country. It’s just mind numbing to see the amount of time and energy Brazilians put into this topic.

And BTW, your rant proves the stupidity of the average Brazilian voter. Like Churchill once lamented – “if you want the best argument against democracy, just spend 5 minutes with your average voter.” I think you can riff on this a bit and say “if you want to know why Brazil is so backwards, just spend 5 minutes with your average Brazilian.” Or at the very least, spend a couple of minutes reading their comments on Orkut.

If anything Gilson, your ilk only serve to reinforce the idea that Brazil is mostly populated by fools. Thank god there are a few decent, educated and rational Brazilians here, or I would have gone insane years ago.

Seja feliz garotinho, nos temos futebol e cerveja barata na terra de tolos. Então pq alguém queria um governo que funciona? Viva Castro, Viva Chavez, Viva a revolução!! Long live the Latin American Idiot. Qwa qwa qwa. You provide endless entertaiment.

Whose is the fool?
written by James Stolarczyk, November 02, 2006
The PT must people love people like Athina and Castro, like Pavlov's dogs the slobber all over themselves in an effort to regurgitate the garbage spewed by the left in Brazil. The headline to the right says 30% of Brazilians live in squalor. You have $22 Billion in surplus and a growing economy, but a weak education system. You have a GDP per head of over $8,000 per year, yet you have a 27% tax rate, with 3.5 percent growth projected and inflation at around 8%, yet Brazilians are migrating in larger numbers. Your Public Debt remains a high 50% of GDP and your exports are at 32% of GDP. 35% is considered a warning area for revolt or a civil war by CH standards. 21% of your export trade is with the USA and the USA supplies 18% of your imports. These are hard facts, so tell me how much of your GDP do you think Da Silva can dump into Social Programs with out sending your economy into a tailspin? There is allot for Brazil to be happy about, but there are warning signs as well. Da Silva cannot ignore them.
So who is the fool? Which one, Bush, the Harvard/Yale grad who is President of the USA or the Pavlovian idiots who bash the USA while ignoring their own problems. As far as Iraq, basically mind your own business, as long as we are not bombing your asses take care of your own problems and don't lecture us. By the way, Bush has never been accused of corruption, nor has Cheney or any members of his cabinet; can you say that about Da Silva? If you spend all your time complain about your neighbors, but not taking care of your own problems, it will not be long before 50% of Brazil will live in squalor. But bashing the country and people that provide almost 25% of your trade is not going to make things beter! Brazil is a beautiful country, with wonderful people and amazing culture, if Da Silva can make it better, more power to him whatever his politics.

THAT is called humanitarian reasons, care with democracy, justice and fight against the overbearing stronger "people", those who use their truculence to put down weak people.

Viva Palestine!!!

Enough with your ignorance already! The imperialist countries from all times looted wealth from weaker people, while in their ingenuity or economic weakness. Brazil's history is not different from the rest of the world. Read about for a change? See how british and american twisted cleaverness has its role in the world and Brazil's history and stop making a fool of yourself! Ughh

Humanitarian????
written by James Stolarczyk, November 02, 2006
"Viva Palestine"

Humanitarians, you mean like the Palestinians who convince their CHILDREN and WOMEN to blow themselves up on busses full of women and children. The dead babies deserved their fate, right. The 5 year Israeli blown to bits must have been looting the poor weak Arabs. You are either young or ignorant or possibly both. I have more respect for the Iraq insurgents willing to face us gun to gun then the cowardly Palestians that kill babies. Britian did use it's position as a world power to control Brazils resources, the United States did interfer during our Cold War with politics in South America. Yes we turned a blind eye to the behaviour of despots and dictators, even recognized a few. So what has that got to do with today. You Brazilians live in a vaccum, I have lived all over the world including Brazil. I have argued with Palestians, lived and fought with Arabs, I have spent years living in Asia and danced (yes poorly) in the streets with Brazilians. I have found something wonderful in everyone including the Arabs. People like you pontificate from your computer, rant against the USA while you cannot even clean up your jails, your streets or your government. Your only view of the world is from the internet or a vacation somewhere if you are not one of the 30% living in sqaulor in Brazil. Your own leaders, have done far worst damage to you and your people than the United States. By the way, I have a degree in history, read it everyday, you should do the same.

again, who cares?? :-

--"So what has that got to do with today"

Make an effort to find out, ok? eyes rolling

--"People like you pontificate from your computer"

You people have a clue about anything? I understand you want only one-sided vision as convenient as that is. Writing to you is just another matter of humanitarian reason.

--"Your only view of the world is from the internet or a vacation somewhere if you are not one of the 30% living in sqaulor in Brazil."

Be a human being for a change and live together others, maybe this way you people get humanized... eyes rolling what a waste of time you people are digusting puke provoking individuals.
