Brazil Goes Beyond Self Sufficient to 2.3 Million Oil Barrels a Day PDF Print E-mail
Written by Newsroom
Sunday, 19 November 2006

Brazil's government owned Petrobras averaged during October oil and gas production of 2.343.451 barrels which is 4.7% above the same month a year ago and 1.6% up from September 2006.

Domestic oil and gas production reached the equivalent of 2.103.198 bpd which is 4.5% up from a year ago and 2.2% above last September's 2.058.431 bpd.

During October oil production in Brazil was 1.821.261 bpd, up 5.8% over last October and 1.8% over September 2006. Increased oil production resulted mainly from three new wells at the P-50 platform in the Albacora Leste field, Campos Basin.

Petrobras oil and gas overseas production in barrel equivalents reached last October 240.253 bpd, which is 2.7% below the September volume and down 0.8% from the same month in 2005. Petrobras has overseas operations in eight countries.

Natural gas production in domestic fields was 44,824 m³ a day, which represents a 4.4% increase over September 2006 and 3.5% more than a year ago.

Brazil's oil consumption was in the range of 1.85 million bpd at the beginning of 2006 which means the country technically is self sufficient. Towards the end of 2006, domestic consumption was estimated in the range of two million bpd.

Sooooo wrong......the headline
written by ch.c., November 20, 2006
....because the 2,343 millions bpd day includes foreign extraction....as written !

Is Exxon or Chevron foreign extraction added to the USA production ? Not in my view, otherwise it cannot be counted in the country were it is produced....by definition !

And if I am wrong, the USA are oil self sufficient too, since their foreign production should be included....just as Petrobas does ! Simple !

Stupid idiot, do I have to translate every single article to YOU?
BRAZIL: (The article said)
Domestic consumption of 1.850.000 bpd.
Domestic production of 1.821.261 bpd.
------------------
28.739 bpd. away to self-sufficiency.

USA:
Domestic consumption of 20.000.000 bpd
Domestic production of 7.060.000 bpd
------------------
12.940.000 bpd. away to self-sufficiency.

See how stupid your analogy is?
REMEMBER YOU HAVE NO CREDENTIALS, NO CREDIBILITY...YOU ARE NOTHING!!!
you can't even spell "petrobras".

please re-read the headline of the article : Brazil Goes Beyond Self Sufficient to 2.3 Million Oil Barrels a Day !
- in the 2,3 millions BPD they meant oil equivalent not only oil ! That includes natural gas !
- in the headline ....Brazil.....they meant Petrobras ! That is different !
- Petrobras is not government owned as said but government controlled.
- in the......Brazil Goes Beyhond 2,3 million BPD of oil...it includes foreign production.
2'103'198 of oil + gas domestic + 240'253 overseas !

That was my whole point !

Therefore the headline is wrong from A to Z !
And your USA numbers are for oil only......not oil + gas !

And if the same mistake is applied as done in the headline, the USA are also self sufficient since the overseas production should be added to the domestic production...the same way as the headline did ! Just think of it !

That was my second whole point : the headline of the article !

By the way Jonny Be Good, you did not came back on our disagreement for the 2005 Brazilian economic growth rate. You said 5 %, I said 2,3 %.
You also disagreed that in 2005 you had the worst LATAM/Caribean growth rate...after Haïti !
Just refer as 1 example only, to Alckmin election campaign interviews and TV : he said the same...as I did ! smile

By the way did you know that for 2006 you could very well for a second year in a row do a repeat of 2005 of being the country in LATAM/Caribean region.....with the lowest economic growth....after Haiiti ?????

Jonny the Not So Good Economist....just go back to the official stats !

Ohhh and is Jonny really your name ! Doesnt sound Brazilian !

Charles Correio for ch.c. ! laugh -smilies/wink.gif)
