According to information disclosed yesterday by the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafé), exports of green coffee from Brazil in November had their second best monthly result since 1990.

Nearly 3 million 60-kilogram bags of coffee were exported, yielding US$ 360 million in revenues.

According to Cecafé, the increase when compared to November last year was 40.5% for revenue, and 32.8% in traded volume.

In October this year, Brazilian participation in the international market for the commodity reached 39%, in comparison with 35.9% during the same period in 2005, according to the International Coffee Organisation (OIC).

Cecafé also informed that the main export markets from January to November were Germany, the United States, Italy and Japan.

The Port of Santos, in the southeastern Brazilian city of São Paulo, was the largest exporter, followed by the ports of Rio de Janeiro and Sepetiba, both in the state of Rio de Janeiro, southeast Brazil.
