Brazil's Varig Is Flying Daily to London Again PDF Print E-mail
Written by Newsroom

Varig with its new orange color, the same from Gol Varig is back in London with daily flights from Brazil. Varig, a Brazilian company that used to be Brazil's flagship airline before falling into hard times and getting into bankruptcy, is little by little regaining its strength through the efforts of Gol, a more dynamic and youthful company, which has acquired the traditional Varig name.

"Launching this new route to London is another important step in Varig's international expansion plan, which already includes flights to key European cities in France, Germany and Italy," says Lincoln Amano, Commercial Director at Varig.

"By adding London to our route network, we are further increasing the number of daily flight options between South America and Europe."

Varig is currently flying to Frankfurt, Germany; Paris, France and Rome, Italy. The Company's international routes in South America include Bogota, Colombia; Buenos Aires, Argentina and Caracas, Venezuela.

According to the Brazilian Tourism Ministry, London is one of the most popular destinations for Brazilian leisure and business travelers, while England ranks among the top 10 countries providing tourists to Brazil.

London was added to Varig's route network to serve the increasing demand for flights between the two countries: in 2006, approximately 170,000 English tourists traveled to Brazil, while nearly 175,000 Brazilians traveled to England over the same period.

Tickets to London are available for purchase through Varig's website (www.varig.com.br) and the Company's call centers.

Varig Linhas Aéreas S.A. offers over 120 daily flights to 14 destinations in Brazil and 22 daily flights to seven international destinations in South America and Europe: Buenos Aires, Bogota and Caracas, in South America and Frankfurt, London, Paris and Rome, in Europe.
