God Is Brazilian, But Oil Rigs in Brazil Are Not Doing Their Job PDF Print E-mail

Petrobras's oil rig Just one day after Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that "God is Brazilian," following the discovery of massive new oil reserves offshore, state-controlled oil multinational Petrobras reported that the Brazil's domestic oil output fell 2.3% in October from September in its fourth straight monthly drop totaling a steep 5% below year-ago levels.

Petrobras, which accounts for nearly all crude production and refining in Brazil, said Wednesday that it pumped an average of 1.73 million barrels per day last month, below last year's average of 1.78 million bpd.

The Brazilian oil company explained that it had programmed stoppages at the Garoupa and Corvina fields and had to halt a 60,000 bpd rig at the Albacora field to repair a riser pipeline. But output has since resumed at the three fields.

Petrobras expects the production drop to be reversed soon after two rigs on the light oil fields of Piranema and Golfinho started working in October and November, while two big platforms are due for start-up on the heavy oil Roncador field before the end of the year.

Petrobras expects an average annual output growth of over 7% through 2012. Natural gas production in Brazil edged up 0.7 percent in October from September to 42.6 million cubic meters per day.

The company's international oil output fell 3.4% to 124,175 bpd due to lower production in Venezuela and Argentina. Natural gas production abroad fell 3% to 18.6 million cubic meters per day. Overseas Petrobras produces crude and natural gas in Argentina, Angola, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, United States and Venezuela

Brazil's government and the state-run oil company Petrobras announced two weeks ago that exploration of its Tupi offshore field showed it had enough to increase national oil reserves by 50%. A new discovery nearby still being explored also appeared to contain enough petroleum to propel Brazil among the top 10 oil producers in the world, they said.

"This discovery... proves that God is Brazilian" said Lula da Silva during a speech at his presidential palace in Brasília. His theological assertion is not original: Brazilians have long claimed that God shares their nationality on the basis of the natural resources at their disposal.

The British magazine The Economist also already made reference to that saying in its take on the oil find in an article last week titled "God may indeed be Brazilian after all."

God is certainly NOT Brazilian. Guaranteed !

Your new oilfield discovery, which may contain 5 to 8 billion barrels of oil is very positive. But it is all relative.
Do simple maths : even the rosy exstimate of 8 billion at US$ 100.- equals 800 billion divided by close to 200 millions citizens equals 4000.- divided by a minimum of 10 years (life of the well) the end results will be around US$ 300.- per year/per capita or US$ 25.- per month.
And the further you extend the life of the production, the smallest the per month or year results will be !

I have been nice in my maths because this will be the revenues before the extraction costs and not the profits.
Huge extraction costs since you have to drill first thousands of meter below the ocean level and even more thousands of meters below the ocean floor ! Possible task but "only" very expensive !

Finally comparing the discovery to Norway as we read in the newspapers is correct, except that in Norway the population is 4,7 millions, Brazil around 190 millions.
You see that sharing a cake between a group of 4,7 millions or the same size cake between a group of 190 millions, makes the slices very very thin to the country having a population of 190 millions.
If I am not too uneducated, the ratio is 40 times larger for the smaller nation !!!!!

Is god Norwegian, Kuwaiti or Saudi, I dont know, but certainly not Brazilian !

Of course, you are pretty uneducated and I am glad that you have started confessing .A very good start.

I have been nice in my maths because this will be the revenues before the extraction costs and not the profits.

Your maths is not all that bad, thanks to the "Spreadsheet" you learn' t to read along your life.

Bloody irritatingly right, as usual. But remember, this is supposed to become economically viable in another 5-10 years. So what ? Promises made today do not have to be complied with 10 years from now.

Is god Norwegian, Kuwaiti or Saudi, I dont know, but certainly not Brazilian !

This is the first time I hear you saying "I don't know". Since you made that statement, lemme share a secret with you: GOD IS A MANGOLIAN. smilies/grin.gif

Santos
written by shelly, November 24, 2007
A pal of mine, a British working for a big oil in Texas -he is top manager, is going to Brazil this weekend. Apparently, his wife, a good friend of mine (carioca), has told me that they think they have found more oil off the coast of Santos. They don't know how big it is, but it could be large. Again, if it is true, maybe there is hope...maybe.

He doesn't work for Halliburton (sp?). I can't really say, send me an e-mail and I will forward your information to him. Anyway, he is always in Brazil and has lived in our country, now he is here in Texas, but usually visits Brazil on a regular basis.

Joao don't be fulled
written by jony, November 25, 2007

Joao I hope you realize that the one that wrote to you is NOT ch.c. The writing style and English fluidity is completely different from the original asshole. Ch.c writes with a very heavy accent, as you well know and this guy is obviously an English speaking person. Now the reason there was no posting for the past 10 days or so is because the NEW asshole Ch.c had to go back and read and get acquainted with the mind setting and the style of the original asshole ch.c.
Joao I am very much familiar with Yaploka Catamaran as well as the competition Sun Reef Cats, I have personal friends in both Companies… Trust me on this one!!!
a) The backlog orders for both companies are about 5 to 8 years. If you want one of those Cats commissioned for you; You simply have to wait this long. Ch.c. made it sound that he just went down to France to buy Yaploka Cat just out of the shelf!!! Laugh laugh…
b) Isn’t if ironic that he decided to go to France for his vacation and get his dream Catamaran EXACTLY at the same time when France is having the worst union crisis in its history with traffic paralyzed for 150 kilometers all over the country!!! Laugh laugh laugh… Pinocchio doesn’t realize that this news is all over the world??? No boddy in the right mind would go to France for vacation at this time??? Very simple...the only answer is somebody that is not telling you the thruth!

Sorry Forrester but its not Joao...is Ch.c
written by jony, November 25, 2007

That's right, I forgot about you Forrest (admiral). Just ask Forrest how long would take to build a 75 footer super catamaran sailboat. He would tell you! If Ch.c went to get his catamaran, like he claims, 15 days ago, that means he had to have it ordered (commissioned) that in 1999 or so, which blows his time table of when he made all these BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars on his Brazilian investments right off the water!!! Laughable he is!!!

Thanks for the info you provided. Something weird indeed. Never mind. If you know so much about the products of Yapulka, it is worth going through the site our friend Forrest indicated. He has a good project there. You know our labor is good and cheaper than the French.
