Brazilian President Offers Bush Brazil Know-How to Solve US Bank Crisis PDF Print E-mail
Written by Francesco Neves
Thursday, 27 March 2008

Chavez and Lula meet in Recife, Brazil Brazilian President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has called American president, George Bush, a couple of times to talk about the subprime crisis in the United States. Lula urged Bush to take care of the problem before it harms other countries in special Brazil.

The Brazilian leader also said that Brazil has the know-how and is ready to teach the US how to deal with banks in financial distress.

"I called him and said," Lula revealed today, March 27, during a meeting with businessmen at the Brazil Mexico Business Forum, in Recife, in the northeastern state of Pernambuco. "Hey Bush, we have a problem here, my son. We stayed 26 years without growing. Now that we are growing, you come and mess it up, dammit. Solve your crisis." The audience laughed.

Lula mentioned Proer, a program created in 1995 by the administration of his predecessor, Fernando Henrique Cardoso to rescue distressed Brazilian banks.

"If Bush wishes, he can come to Brazil and we have people who can teach him, I'm not going to teach. But we have people who can teach him how one saves a bank.  Brazil has the know-how and I think that if they need we can send them this technology. And the worst is that we offered help to banks, closed some and now they went to the Justice to get it back."

Lula also revealed that Bush seemed annoyed at him because he also talked to Gordon Brown, the UK's prime minister.

Venezuelan President, Hugo Chávez, in visit to Brazil responded to generous praises from Lula with phrases like: "Lula gets wiser with each passing day." Lula had called him among other things "peacemaker," in a reference to Colombia's recent military incursion into Ecuador and the tension that ensued.

"Who was the conflict's big peacemaker? It was president Chavez. For this reason, to the ex-guerrilla who became a peacemaker, my congratulations."

The Brazilian president reaffirmed his desire that Venezuela be admitted to the Mercosur, but conceded that Chavez needs to be patient and wait for the Brazilian senate to accept that country into the South American common market.

Last year, the Venezuelan leader criticized the Brazilian senate after that body condemned Chavez's decision to close a private television. Chavez accused the senators of being submissive to the United States and called them parrots of Washington.

The Venezuelan president was awarded the title of Pernambucano citizen. Pernambucano is someone who is born in the northeastern state of Pernambuco. Lula is a Pernambucano himself: "Chavez is as Pernambucano as I am," he said.

Our beloved Prez is downplaying his importance which is very characteristic of him (he being a very modest person)

But we have people who can teach him how one saves a bank. Brazil has the know-how and I think that if they need we can send them this technology.

Wholeheartedly agree with our Prez. We have the technology, know-how and political will power to save the banks (but not their customers).

Lula also revealed that Bush seemed annoyed at him because he also talked to Gordon Brown, the UK's prime minister.

Indeed, Bush is annoyed at our Prez, because he talked to Gordie Brown, because Gordie is related to FORREST ALLEN BROWN and our Prez and Forrest are pretty good pals.

"Who was the conflict's big peacemaker? It was president Chavez. For this reason, to the ex-guerrilla who became a peacemaker, my congratulations."

I don't recall Col. Chavez being an ex-guerrilla. But he is a really a macho man.

btw, I got most of the news from the national media about this great encounter which I think is going to bring peace, prosperity and joy to the entire continent of South America.

Now, we await Bush anxiously to visit us to learn how to save the banks.

Hi guys. Been out. Not all places have web access... at least not uncensored access. However, in my first peek at what´s going on, I get this vision of an intestinal parasite trying to teach notions of hygiene to a pig.Wow!
I am at a loss for words.

I have seen a really nice picture of Lula & Bush a few months ago and perhaps you missed it. The best pic of today is that of Dilma & Chavez. I have already sent it to you. I am sure you will be as happy as I am after seeing it smilies/wink.gif

That was a precise accessment. However, I gotta tell you not just China or Cuba have web control. Quite a bit of the middle east also falls in that category.
At any rate, its good to be home. As I've said before, white hairs (beard-wise - my bald head has only a faint recollection of its long-gone cover) and time's other signs do not go well with some kinds of work. I guess this was my last trip of this kind (hopefully).
So how's the sailin' been?

Hi Dude,

It is great to have you back transmitting your words of wisdom. Were you on a long overseas assignment?

how's it hangin'? Did I miss anything?

You did miss plenty of great things as well as few nasty ones like Yellow fever and Dengue.

On the positive side, the year started well. Thanks to PAC, our economy is in a very good shape after 26 years of stagnation.People are happy and the popularity rating of our Prez is 58%, the highest of any President´s in our history (except that of Medici, who got 78% at one point of time during his presidency. I read this fact somewhere, since I was still young at that time to remember).

On the negative side, a large scale outbreak of Dengue in Rio and other cities is slightly worry some. However, our intrepid Minister of Defense has taken command quickly and intends using our armed forces to combat the mosquitoes. We are now reassured the Dengue would be wiped out soon.

The rest of the year promises to be interesting. Soon we will have Olympic games in China followed by our municipal elections to keep us entertained.

It was a pleasure to update you with the news and hope you get stay at your home base for a few weeks at least. Now it is your turn to tell us what we don't know. smilies/grin.gif

This article must be a joke....
written by dnbaiacu, March 28, 2008
Or Lula or this reporter is misinformed.
Bush has very little if anything to do with the nations economy. The sooner people understand this the better they can see what is going on. The Fed is running everything with it's CFR members backing them up.
The subprime crises was ALLOWED ,if not promoted. It's about control by debt. I hope this isn't news to anyone posting here.
The best thing Brazil could have done WAS NOT enter FTAA. But that WASN"T intended to happen anyway. Too much natural wealth not intended to be plundered immediately. The real powers that be aren't stupid. The U.S is being broken down deliberately. Mercosul is safe from this,,, for now.
Im no economist, or political scientist.. I just read a lot. The real info is out there for the asking.

Very little nowadays is not known... to those who look carefully and read between the lines. dnbaiacu up there has a point.
However, to put things in a nutshell, the powder keg is still ready to blow.Luckily , the "me against my brother" part of the saying is still going strong. Those ragheads can't coordinate for shit. Lucky us.

"Brazil has the know-how and is ready to teach the US how to deal with banks in financial distress. "

Just cut 3 zeroes to your currency as Brazil did "only" 4 times ...in 70 years !

Laugh....laugh....laugh !
And guess who the losers would be : the idiots emerging countries who accumulated trillions of dollars !

And guess who the winners will be : the idiots who lost hundreds of billions by buying U.S. subprimes, ALT-A, MBS, CDOS etc etc.

Yesss taking a loss on as debt bought but is devalued....helps smooths the loss !!!!!

Brazil is keeping away from FTAA (for the time being at least). I think you missed reading the article regarding this in this magazine. Please click on the link below:

Unless some emerging countries use their accumulated dollars wisely. One example is the recent purchase of Land Rover and Jaguar brands by an Indian automaker. If I recall correctly, Ford sold their operations in U.K. for $1.3 Billions to the Tatas and had originally bought the two brands for $2.5Bs.

I thought the the move by the Indians was cute and rightly timed. I wonder what the Chinese have up their sleeves, with over a Trillion dollars in their reserve!

BRAZIL NEEDS TO SAVE RIO TOURISUM
written by JAY GLENN, March 28, 2008
Brazil's biggest resort city. Rio has seen a 25 percent drop in tourism as a result, the Brazilian Hotel Association said.

A dengue epidemic has claimed at least 54 lives in Rio de Janeiro state since January, health officials said Thursday.

Hospitals have reported a total of 114 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease, but 60 of those cases are still being investigated.

Brazilian Health Care Secretary Jose Noronha said that 1,200 soldiers from the army, air force and navy would be deployed next week to set up three field hospitals, while an additional 500 would spray insecticide and place poison in standing puddles of water where the mosquitoes breed.

"The intensity of the epidemic has brought intolerable death tolls," Noronha told reporters after a meeting with armed forces commanders.

The majority of the confirmed deaths, 31, have been in the city of Rio de Janeiro - Brazil's biggest resort city. Rio has seen a 25 percent drop in tourism as a result, the Brazilian Hotel Association said.

BRAZIL NEEDS TO SAVE RIO TOURISUM

I am sure that Dª.Marta is on the job, she being the minister of tourism.

btw, why should rest of Brasil worry about saving RIO Tourism, when we have prettier places to visit? Honestly, I have seen much nicer places than Rio in Brasil. The Cariocas can keep Rio, while we have the better ones in PR,SC and RS!

Rio, to put it kindly,
written by brazilian dude, March 29, 2008
has been a cesspool for the last thirty years, both figuratively and literally (every time the "emissário submarino" springs a leak or the sea currents revert, bathers swim in a cold, salty frothing soup of shiit at those nice beaches).
Went on vacation in SC last year, and uncontrolled seafront development is bringing the risk of a Rio-ization to the place (raw sewage into the sea is now a reality there). However, it is still league better than Rio.
Besides, what´s this fixation with beaches, anyways? Places like Serra Gaúcha, Bonito, Chapada dos veadeiros and others are inland beauties which are much more interesting than a mere strip of sand (okay, Forrest, as a jarhead and sailor you got a thing for the sea, but give a ground-pounder some credit here, eh?)
As for the ragheads, political correctness blinds westerners to the incredible risk they pose to us and our society.Only those who have actually had field experience and seen their real face, without any pious masks on, fathom the absolute incompatibility between us. Integration is NOT a realistic option, as the Dutch (and the rest of Europe) are belatedly realizing. They just don't play by our rules - and consider you worthy of killing if you don't play by theirs. Those are the cold, hard facts, and I'd rather face them than end up in the cole, cole groun' because of a bunch of wishy-washy do-good politically correct morons.

Bo, it opens up business opportunities for ya. You can always sell many units in your condo for him and his cronies so that they can spend autumn of their lives peacefully and quietly under your care. Of course, I am sure Forrest will be happy to transport them to SE in his boat for a reasonable price!

We better act before Ch.c steals our idea and decides to give Dr.Roberto asylum in Switzerland smilies/wink.gif
