The Brazilian Plan to Build a Stronger South America PDF Print E-mail
Written by Newsroom

Striving for new South American currency Brazil is on track to creating a South American Central Bank and  common currency according to an announcement by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. This follows the formal launching last Friday, May 23, of the Union of South American Nations, Unasur.

"Much has yet to the formalized. But now we are going to start a South America bank so that in the near future we can have a joint central bank for the region and a common currency. It's a process, it's not something to rush," said Lula during his weekly broadcasted program.

Unasur was created in Brazilian capital Brasília by the presidents of the region with the purpose of having a common space for "political concertation." Unasur is "a dream come true" said Lula recalling "what South America was just a few years ago and what it's now. There has been an extraordinary evolution."

He pointed out that the consolidation of regional unity will demand help for the smaller countries and Brazil being the largest economy in the region "has a particular interest in achieving this goal."

"We need investments in Bolivia; we must strengthen Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia. We have the responsibility of helping them because the stronger the South American countries, the more peace, democracy, trade, jobs, profits and development," added the Brazilian president.

Lula da Silva considered non important the fact that a Brazilian initiative to create a South American defense council with the purpose of avoiding regional conflicts, did not count with the necessary consensus. Colombia was the only country to reject the initiative arguing its permanent combat against organized terrorism.

"In the European Union some countries did not accept the common currency or a common constitution, but nobody considers that the motive for a crisis."

"Divergences that might surge inside the recently born Unasur should not be an obstacle for regional development. "I always have in mind France, which was destroyed by Germany and half a century later they got together to start the European Union," said Lula.

According to the Brazilian president, "we South Americans were indoctrinated that whatever we undertook would not function, that we're poor, that we are not consistent or perseverant and that we need to depend on United States or the European Union. But what has really happened is that South America's geopolitics has changed."

Indoctrinated by whom?
They sure aren't wasting any time....

And they are pretending the currency isn't made already.
All political posturing smilies/cheesy.gif

Typically Lula style.
He simply time and again doesnt know what he is talking about.

- Not all France was invaded in WW2, only part of it
- Very little was destroyed....in fact.
- The invasion took place and France surrendered very fast.
- No destruction of heavy Industries such as car manufacturers Peugot and Renaut, or steel mills or large power plants.
- Very few buildings were bombed in large or medium cities.
- railroads whenever temporarily destroyed was mostly due to....French resistants themselves !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing was destroyed as Germany was.....later.

Empty mind, brain as big as a Brazilian feijado describes...... Lula the Ignorant.

Normal....he is Brazilian.....with Brazilian genes.

I am really impressed with your knowledge of history. It must be one of your hidden talents!!

Probably, the Squid was impressed with the Vichy French smilies/grin.gif

sorry....just read back and again your medias of those times.
you told the exact opposite. BUT......
- every time you took off 3 zeroes (four times...."only") of your currency....you said ....."WE HAVE A NEW BASE AND WONT COMMIT THE SAME ERRORS AGAIN AND NOW WE ARE ON THE ROAD TO PROSPERITY.... "
Result ? Proved wrong.....just after you printed it !

- during every commodities boom time you said "this time it is sustainable.....long term"
Result : Proved wrong....just after you printed it !

Why do you believe that Brazil and the other South Americans nations are called : BOOM AND......BUST ECONOMIES ????
BECAUSE YOUUUUUUUUU PROVED IT MORE THAN ONE TIME.

Sorry for you junkies.......what you are writing today is Noooo different than what Youuuuu wrote....in the past.

You cant change something that is in your genes.

No South American country ever became a developed nation during the last 1000 years. NONE

It is not what you have in your ground that will ever make you a developed nation....but what is in your mind.

And dont mix up ......developed....with..... wealthy.

Just look at the Arabs countries.
None of them are developed.....despite their oil wealth. By the way oil was found NOT by arabs but by developed countries and not with arab money....they had none....and even less technology to produce it.
Quite the same for the Brazilian agriculture....TODAY.

South Americans and Arabs are quite similar. Simple examples : which one can build a car...with its own technology ???????
Which one is advanced in drugs research and production....outside of cocaine, heroin and marijuana ?

Let me laugh laugh and laugh again on your super development in agriculture in Brazil and Argentina.
Facts being :
- Most of your tractors are made by foreign techology and foreign manufacturers even if with a plant built in your country.
- Pesticides, fongicides used are mostly....foreign.
- Most of your fertilizers are......IMPORTED ! Better yet, contrary to what you have been brainwashed, your soil is thin thus needing far more fertilizers than elsewhere.
- 90 % of your seeds are made by....foreign companies. Stupid question : where is the famous prowess...so much applauded by Brazilians......for Embrapa ?????? Hmmmmm......facts are in contradiction from what is told you.

Ohhhhh let me add 2 others stats than not many of you know....due to your ignorance and lack of general education :

In Brazil you pretend to have a high per hectare production in corn, wheat and potatoes....due to your advanced agricultural development. Right ?

ALL WRONG....AS PER ABOVE AND....BELOW FACTS !!!!!!!!

Brazil per ha potatoes production : 23 tons as per IBGE. In Switzerland it is....40 tons !
Brazil per ha wheat production : 2 tons as per IBGE. In Switzerland it is....6 tons !
Brazil per ha corn production : 3,7 tons as per IBGE. In Switzerland it is.......8 tons !

Ohhhhh even worse for you on the milk production per cow !!!!!

Funny that Brazilians believe they are champions in exports....while they export ONLY still less than US£ 1000.- per capita......against US$ 25'000.- per capita....in Switzerland.
Even if you double your exports, and we dont increase ours, we will still beat you by a factor of 12 TIMES !!!!!

You will remain emerging nations......for eternity.

Just because I gave you credit for your immense knowledge of history, you don't have to get your ego bloated! Bear it in mind that South America was discovered less than "1000" years. You are really becoming a "Mal criado" smilies/angry.gif

You will remain emerging nations......for eternity.

Blew it again. We "Emerge" and "Submerge". That is the reason why our economy is called "Boom and Bust".

Any further clarifications you require, please do not hesitate to ask me. smilies/wink.gif smilies/grin.gif

Joao :
- My second comments, the large ones, were written before I read your "compliments"
- No need to ask you about Brazil booms and busts. I saw more than one. Waiting the next one. No need to have a Brazilian PHD to know what is next. But not immediately .
- Just remember what De Gaule said about Brazil, decades ago. Was he wrong....so far ?????? Even after his death ? Smile
- And your "South America was discovered less than "1000" years" !!!!!!!! Sorry but there were Indians....before ! It was not a region empty of humans....to my knowledge. Anyway, since then, centuries ago, could you please tell me what Brazilians have invented. Certainly not the flex fuel engine as you told me when you were new on this site. Short memory ? smile

Costa :
- one more centavo for another BJ.
- this time swallow it all..... in bulk.
- you have proven one more time your degree of ignorance.....in your writings. Nothing more could be expected. What common sense could you write about....since you have none ! What type of arguments could you write about....since you have none. May be your real father is Bin Lula, you are no different after all !!!!!! Results :your comments could be only short and saying nothing in substance for your defense.

My comments were really compliments and not just "compliments" and so don't get paranoid. After I read your comments on France during WW2, I just burst out laughing. Years ago, I met an elderly German gentleman who was visiting Brazil. He took part in WW2 and at the end of it was a POW in a Russian camp for 5 years. We used to have beer and exchange stories and made several comments about the War and one of them was exactly what you said about the French? When I read yours I thought it was his ghost writing!

Just remember what De Gaule said about Brazil, decades ago. Was he wrong....so far ?????? Even after his death ? Smile

I am not a big fan of De Gaulle, nor Hitler. De Gaulle could have never made it alone to "liberate" France without the help of the Yanks and other ex-colonies of Britain. Hitler? what do you expect out of a corporal who mesmerized and fooled an entire nation into a war? Does he not remind you of someone we know here? Unfortunately, we do not read history and even if we read, we tend to repeat the errors. Fortunately for Portugaul and Spain they remained neutral, thanks to their "Caudilhos" Salazar and Franco, thus avoiding the wrath of the maniac Hitler. You guys stuck a deal with him to remain neutral for the "benefit" of Germany,France and Italy. A clever ploy, I must admit though. You guys really do know which side of the bread has butter smilies/grin.gif

Certainly not the flex fuel engine as you told me when you were new on this site. Short memory ? smile

I never said that we invented Flex fuel engine. I always mentioned that the first ethanol fuel efficient car was developed by American/Brazilian engineers working for Ford Motor do Brasil Ltda. It was not Flex, but with carburettors that could take either Gasoline or Ethanol.VW and GM also introduced their versions, but the mileage their autos used to give was almost 50% of what the Ford gave. I was a big fan of Ford Corcel II ( If I recall, our fellow blogger RIC also had one). I do not know who developed Flex and I don't care, because I don't drive one.

Ah, you still alive,eh ? Happy to inform you that your compatriot "Gringo" is alive and kicking as well.

Of course, I am aware of Santos Dumont.I also remember about Swiss Air 111 that crashed off the coast of your N.S. As I said earlier, I like to pull the leg of Ch.c. But not with morbid history.
