Capoeira Besouro For the fourth year in a row, the Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles is organizing the annual Brazilian Day in L.A., scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on the Page Museum lawn, at the La Brea Tar Pits.

The event, which has been conceived to bring to Los Angeles a diversified and enhanced range of Brazilian culture, presenting traditional and contemporary music and dance from Brazil will happen September 6, from  noon to 6 pm.

The Brazilian Day also promises to bring the best of Brazil's cuisine, as well as a Kids Corner, offering face painting, magician's presentations, and other fun activities for children.

Being open to the public and free of charge, it should gather both Brazilians and Angelenos in a celebration of culture. Through the sale of raffle tickets, the event will raise funds for the BrazilFoundation.

The BrazilFoundation mobilizes resources and talent that contribute towards the improvement of social conditions in Brazil. It acts as a bridge between the U.S. and Brazil, capturing donations from individuals and socially responsible corporations in the U.S., allocating them to social programs throughout Brazil. Its main goal is to finance and support projects that operate in five main areas: education, public health, human rights, citizenship, and culture.

The Brazilian Day in L.A. will feature DJ Marlon, Tri Orgânico, Kixegô, Wow Paradise, and Bandeira Brasil. Capoeira Besouro is scheduled to perform, as well as the "Centro Gaúcho Bento Gonçalves", presenting typical dances from the south of Brazil.

The Kids Corner will have soccer and Capoeira workshops, face-painting, folklore story-telling, prize drawing. Children will get popcorn and cotton candy for free. Rildo Meneses, one of the all-time best lateral defenders for Pelé's team, Santos Soccer Club, will teach soccer to children of all ages.

The Brazilian Day in L.A. is presented by the Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles. Participants are allowed and encouraged to picnic, bring their cameras, umbrellas, beach towels or blankets.
