Brazil's BNDES Makes Record US$ 50 Billion Loans, Most for Infrastructure PDF Print E-mail
Written by Newsroom
Monday, 11 August 2008

Federal road being repaired in Brazil Brazil's BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank) (BNDES) loaned a total of 78,8 billion reais (US$ 49.9 billion) during the 12-month period ending in June, representing growth of 34% over the previous 12 months. The performance was record-breaking, as the bank disclosed August 7.

According to a press release issued by the institution, the figure "reflects the effects of the growing investment cycle underway in the Brazilian economy." Total approved loans, but not necessarily effected yet, reached 111.8 billion reais (US$ 70.8 billion) during the same period, another record-high figure.

Financing for the infrastructure and industry sectors totaled 63.7 billion reais (US$ 40.3 billion) in the 12-month period ending in July, of which the infrastructure sector answered to 32.5 billion reais (US$ 20.5 billion), 80% more than in the previous period.

The areas of ground transportation and electric power were those that borrowed the most. With regard to the industrial sector, the highlights were the segments of food and beverages, chemical and petrochemical products, and textiles and clothing.

In the first half, disbursements totaled 37.9 billion reais (US$ 24 billion), another record-breaking figure. According to the bank, 42% of that total went to the industry sector and 40% went to infrastructure, the highlights being ground transportation and electric power.

Approved loans reached 51.2 billion reais (US$ 32.4 billion) in the first six months this year, 34% more than in the same period last year.

According to the banking institution, disbursements should continue to grow, as the value of approvals has remained higher than that of effective loans. The infrastructure sector should account for the largest portion of loans taken.

for 2008, the BNDES announced recently the amount will be 78 billion Brl for AGRICULTURE ONLY !!!!!

Article with BNDES own stats published HERE in this site :
"Friday, 04 July 2008
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the president of Brazil, launched this July 2, in Curitiba, capital of the southern Brazilian state of Paraná, the 2008/2009 Agricultural and Livestock Plan (PAP), which contemplates the liberation of 78 billion Brazilian reais (US$ 48.6 billion) for the financing and trade of the next crop in the country.

The 78 billion reais of the new Crop Plan represent an increase of 9 billion reais (US$ 5.6 billion) over the previous plan. Of this total, the president of Brazil should tell the one thousand plus farmers to participate in the plan's launching ceremony, to take place on the campus of Positivo University, that the funds turned to the so-called "business farming", including equalization of interest on rural loans, should reach 65 billion reais (US$ 40.5 billion). That is, 7 billion reais (US$ 4.4 billion) more than in 2007.
Family farming should receive R$ 13 billion (US$ 8.1 billion), which represents an increase of 2 billion reais (US$ 1.3 billion) over the volume of funds turned to the sector in the previous crop. Yesterday, in Curitiba, on commenting the new Harvest Plan to be announced today, the Agricultural Policy secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Edílson Guimarães, guaranteed that interest for financing and agricultural investment should remain the same.

Lying, cheating, hiding, contradiciting, disinforming, remain a Brazil specialty !
I really wonder who is the most odious : the one underlining the lies, or the ones lying, cheating and hiding ????

and everyone thought Brazil is not only against Agriculture subsidizes IN DEVELOPED NATIONS but also that Brazil DOESNT subsidizes its own agriculture...AND THAT YOU STILL REMAIN MORE COMPETITIVE !!!!

BIGGER LIARS than Brazilians, there are none on earth

Even more funny when developed nations REDUCED their agriculture subsidizes at time of record prices (2007-early 200smilies/cool.gif, Brazil INCREASED THEM !!!!!! Guess then what is ALREADY happening : agricultural prices are down nicely from their 2008 peak and Brazil continues to...INCREASE...their subsidizes !!!!!!!

Never ever trust what a brazilian say or promise should be the base of every negotiation, be it at the government level, WTO level, enterprise level and including on individuals private level.
But have them believe that we trust them, caress their neck and tell them of how smart and so much better they really are, and bang, more often sooner rather than later, they will be drown in their own autogoals !!!!!

Viva Brazil ! Produce more great Brazilians cars, such as GM, VW, Ford, Fiat just to name a few, as stated in another article published here today.
Hmmmmmm !!!!
Yessssss

pump up the production but more importantly the profits.
We need them to increase the wages of our workers, and to get a much better early retirement !!!!
