Finally I have encountered a like-minded individual in this blog. As such, I whole heartedly welcome you to this blog, hoping that you will join my uncompromising opposition to Mythological intolerance along with uncompromising support for Freedom, Science, and tolerance launched at the Age of Enlightenment of the 18th & 19th Centuries.

Jimbino’s short entry not only is correct but it also implies the most basic aspect of my Worldview: Myth and Allegory - shockingly a significant presence in World of factual evidence and scientific hypothesis – continue attempting to impose its implacable and dogmatic intolerance upon everyone, while restricting the freedom of others who embrace opposing views and ideals…

Although I continued advocating the right for individuals to embrace, advocate and believe any issue, cause or philosophical view (the quintessential component of Western Societies), such right should never include the automatic moral basis of restricting the views, opinions and preferences of those who refuse to share their basic principles, scruples and alleged "sensitivities"! This act simply reflects the inherent intolerance, callous dogma and exceedingly primitive nature of religious beliefs of any type encouraged by their implacably authoritarian institutions along with powerful, concealed supporters bearing the authority to regulate on their behalf…

While I share your concern for the proper spelling of words in any language one knows, the determination of the “critic” should never preclude his/her pragmatic approach to greater issues (let alone the individual being criticized). I beg you to forgive my presumption when reminding you of inevitable occurrence of such blunders, specially in large texts (involving issues of significant nature) and particularly when any such blunder clearly appears correctly several times (such as the word MYTH) in the very entry you criticized...

Most people know that pornography usually appeals to people compulsive behavioral issues and the sexually repressed. Pornography , to date, is usually restricted to those over 18 ,by law , just like alcohol. Society at large conscientiously ,"innately" recognizes the dangers and sometimes crimminal acts that go into producing such material.

DN, I simply don't see how the one thing logically follows the other.

I mean, there are foot fetishists out there too, right? And some of those guys are also bound to be pedophiles, etc. So does this mean we also need to ban all shoe ads, simply to be safe?

Secondly, there is absolutely no reputable scientific linkage between enjoying visual sexual stimulation and pedophilia. None whatsoever. You are making a classic scientific error here by ascribing a spurious linkage between something that is about as common as water (i.e. people enjoying visual sexual stimulation) and a very abnormal behavior (peodphilia). The fact that many pedophiles ALSO enjoy "normal" porn does not logically mean that there's a causal connection between the one thing and the other. You might as well say that eating tomatoes has a link to pedophilia because, after all, 95% of U.S. pedophiles eat tomatoes, probably about the same percentage that consume porn.

What you are doing is taking a common behavior you have umbrage with (porn) and falsely associating it with pedophilia by constructing spurious stats which would be just as "valid", scientifically speaking, if you were to launch a war against tomatoes.

Normally, I wouldn't give a rat's ass, DN, but the kind of confusion people like you cause in this debate causes resourses which would otherwise be used to hunt down REAL pedophiles to go into witch hunts against completely innocous forms of sexual behavior.

5) For the first time since the Second World War, there's actually a global crisis regarding price increases for basic food supplies....

The writer of that statement never specified if he was talking about what YOU call NORMAL PORN or not. Just made a blanket comment and contrasted it with RELIGION. This is where I was compelled to speak my mind.

Better yet, let's use a 3000 year old book, imperfectly transcribed by mostly illiterate desert nomads, imperfectly translated by Dark Ages monks and cut 'n pasted together by a Roman Emperor's hand-picked editorial committee as our guide for 21st century morality on this issue. We were talking about the ET's that used the "illiterate desert nomads" that were granted "pyschic" ability by the Master of the Universe to solidify his thoughts in the 3,000 year old "book",.Which we are choosing to call the "popular book" to be on the safe side.
I think the Master Universe as well as a host of the ET"s with good and evil intentions are powerful enough to make sure a basic message is transmitted to the homo-sapiens that have this wonderful gift of "free -will" to choose who they will let control their thoughts. The planet earth is on stage and all the little "free moral agents" are part of the cast.
