Brazilian design Brazilian design companies and fostering agencies should have an opportunity to close deals and partnerships at the Brazil Design Week - innovation as a business strategy. The event is turned to generation of business in design and innovation and will happen from Tuesday, September 9 to Sunday, September 14, at the Modern Art Museum (MAM) of Rio de Janeiro.

Named Design Trade Show, the space should cover an area of 1,500 square meters (16,145 sq. feet) and should bring together 40 companies, each day, from 12 noon to 8 pm, at Espaço Pilotis. On Sunday, operation is from 10 am to 6 pm.

Organizations like the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae), the Brazilian Society for Technological Innovation (Protec), the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), the Brazilian Design Association (Abedesign), the Brazilian Design Association, the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro and the Bank of Brazil also participate in the event.

Those turning up to the Brazil Design Week may see exhibition "Design in the XXI Century - Innovation in Brazilian Industry", to include around 80 works by designers renowned in Brazil and worldwide. In the schedule there are seminars with presentation of national and international success stories in the furniture, high technology, vehicle and transport, food and beverage, plastic and household appliance, and hygiene and beauty sectors.

It should also be possible to enroll for participation in debate forums about political strategies. They should include the participation of sector and governmental organizations, design universities and fostering agencies. There should also be workshops on branding (the establishment of a brand on the market), packaging, retail and graphic, editorial and product design.

The expectation is that 3,000 people should visit the Brazil Design Week, whose objective it is to exhibit the innovation capacity of Brazilian design and to make it an agent of transformation in Brazilian industry once and for all.

The event is promoted by the Abedesign in partnership with the Apex-Brasil, the government of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Sebrae and the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).

Brazil Design Week should take place each year with the objective of strengthening the sector and expectations are to produce an edition in New York, in 2010. Further information about the event may be found on site www.brazildesignweek.com.br.
