One of the proposals of the Brazilian government, in New York, at a meeting attended by over 58 heads of state is to give special treatment to money sent by immigrants. The group formed by Chile, Spain, and France and led by Brazil wants the developed countries to adopt measures making it easier for foreign workers to have inexpensive access to financial institutions. "This money is normally used for basic expenses, such as food and housing, and therefore constitutes a secure, alternative sources of funds for developing countries," states the report delivered at the UN meeting. I need to send my savings from the US to Brazil, but given the low dollar exchange rate I want have it in dollars there. Does anyone know what would be the best way ?
To send small quantities, I always use western union, but I don't know if that would work for larger quantities. report abuse

I think in some countries one can send up to $5000 USD through the services of the western union..

My wife and I always send money from the U.S. to Brazil using www.xoom.com We've been very happy with their service and they don't cost as much as Western Union.
