Approximately 20,000 truck drivers in Brazil will receive information on how to identify and denounce practices that constitute exploitation of child labor.

The educational program is the fruit of a partnership between the National Transportation Confederation (CNT) and the Ministry of Social Development and Hunger Alleviation (MDS).

According to the coordinator of the Program for the Eradication of Child Labor (Peti), Margarida Munguba, the proposal is an initiative of the CNT, which is already involved in the program "Driver Citizen, Protector of the Rights of Children and Adolescents," directed at children and adolescents subjected to sexual violence.

"Since truck drivers go to regions and places where we sometimes don't have access, they identify situations of child labor. They would be collaborating with the protection network for children and adolescents by identifying locations where this type of labor prevails, especially in rural areas," she said.

According to Munguba, the truck drivers will be trained to identify and denounce the exploitation of child labor through a course and a handbook prepared by the MDS and the CNT.
